memorial day 2008

we had such a fun weekend, packed with great friends, great weather, and great food!

our first stop was a fun day at the wilk's, our friends that live on the lake in our town. they, of course, have a gorgeous lake house with all the great toys that kept us busy and having fun for hours. unfortunately we had to come home early because one little girl needed a nap!

plus, we confirmed that she does not LOVE the hammock...not much of a surprise. she definitely loves the feeling of being in control...so we are working on becoming more laid back!

and luckily we got there on time-ISH, so we could take a lovely cruise on the lake and have some quality time doing our monthly visiting teaching!!

which, was soooo fun!  i loved it!  i haven't been out on a boat in so long...it was just so nice to have that view of our town and to see all the lovely scenery along the lake.  i also learned that lucille ball had a lake house on our lake...so, we are a little famous out here in the country!!
ps...her house was lovely!!

amber, kristen, and i-the boating babes!

and on Memorial Day, we invited all the city folk to come out and watch our country parade... where they still throw candy at the crowd, give out free pom-poms, and are just plain cute!!

and matilda was totally enthralled with all the festivities and all the people-watching!

after the parade we had everyone over for a nice BBQ lunch and then spent the day resting and enjoying our day together as a family...all in one spot for more than a week...so great!!

and i got to just take it easy and enjoy having my husband home.......now that's luxury!!

i couldn't resist putting this picture up.  matilda is in constant motion and loving all the fun time outdoors!  we have the most wonderful park at the end of our street, aptly named, Patriot's Park.  it is so wonderful to be able to walk around and remember all those that have served our country over the century and to feel of the love that they have given so that we can enjoy our freedoms.  we are very lucky!

i just love this picture of the pigtails with the monuments and american flags in the distance.  it is so good to remember ALL our blessings!

i love that you actually celebrated the holiday (we spent ours in the urgent care clinic).
