time to make the donuts...
i have totally been craving those fresh from the fryer, all rolled in sugar, warm, yummy donuts. i think it is the smell of the leaves and the crisp fall evenings that bring this on. who knows?
all i know is that when i found this simple recipe (from RealSimple mag) for donuts...i had to try it. i didn't even have high expectations of them being delicious...
...boy, was i ever surprised!! YEA!
of course, i had to sample one from each batch...for quality control!! and luckily i had help in eating them because i was smart enough to make them on the night i hosted card group
and a little justified about the whole experience because i chalked it up to prep for the Sorich Spooktacular in a few weeks...where i will have to make some more!! oh darn...
and beware...if you try this at home...no one will help you make them. they will just be doing things like this...
...and this.
and then they will want to eat them all when you finish. luckily...they are very cute! especially in that crazy outfit!!
ps...recipe
1 tube of Grands biscuits...i used buttermilk
veg or canola oil...heated in skillet
sugar, cinnamon or glaze
open can, cut 1 inch holes with cookie cutter or shot glass.
heat oil and drop in some of the holes for test batch. they should be cooked for about 1 minute on each side.
drain on rack or on cookie sheet lined with paper towels.
cook the rest!...donuts should be slightly golden to be cooked through
add oil to skillet and let warm, as needed.
while warm, roll in sugar, cinnamon sugar, or whatever else sounds great.
i also glaze some with melted chocolate or a simple milk/powdered sugar glaze
there is no limit to the donut creating...enjoy!!
