days with daddy
look at this face!!!
this has been what my girl looks like by late wednesday/thursday each week. she has a serious case of "dada withdrawal"!!
why?, you say....well...
the hubster has taken a little assignment with work where he is commuting weekly to California...yes, you heard me, Cali-fornia (spoken like the CA governor!!) he is loving this assignment and doing really well. we just miss him!!!
luckily we have been making the most of our weekends together. which, have been VERY fun!!
a typical scene at some point on the weekend...paper catch-up...see, i told you he reads the paper EVERY day!!
the first saturday we decided to adventure to one our favorite places...mystic, ct!! it is so beautiful and a lovely place to just stroll around.
...we ate at the amazing Sea Swirl...the best fish and chips shack outside of London...
...and went to the toy store where matilda played with all the baby dolls she could handle...
...and walked around the seaport near the drawbridge...
...and played in the puddles...
...and finished with some yummy ice cream...
...which someone totally stole from me...can't blame her...belgian chocolate truffle...mmmmm!!
and this past weekend we went out to eat...well, matilda ate ketchup...and strawberries...
...and went to IKEA to get some organization help for all the toys...and finally finish our play/family room...and we got this cute table and chairs for m...she LOVES them!!...
...and then we finished the weekend by taking a family walk on a beautiful Sunday afternoon...it was heavenly...and fun...
...they just LOVE him!!...
...and i LOVE all the daffodils that are blooming!! it is the "official" flower of our town and we are all encouraged to plant them in our yard and along the roadways so that we can make our town more beautiful...you gotta love the country...plus, we love how cute our town is!!...
...and we could be potentially creepy...but the best walking trail is around our cemetery at the end of our street. it borders the lake and is filled with beautiful trees and lovely views...
...now this is the girl i know. so much better after a weekend with lots of dada time!!
and thanks to all my dear friends who have kept us busy with visits, dinner invites, playdates, ice cream dates, phone calls, and everything else...the weeks have really flown by...it is so nice to have such a great support system!
plus, i'm learning how much i truly do need his help every day! he is such a wonderful man!
and to the hubster/dada...we miss you...and we love you...and we can't wait to see you on friday!!
***has your hubster ever travelled for long periods? what gets you through? do you have any tricks, good advice, or ways to keep in touch?***

tears just welled up in my eyes -- yes -- you have made me sooo homesick for CT, ah, looking at mystic, the grey mist and moist ground, and thinking of all the daffodils and your cute cemetary , and all the yards edged with stone fences....If I could I'd hop on a plane right now to visit.
I love living in CO, but it is not and never will be CT. There's magic there.
amen!! and we in CT miss you too!! i still drive by your old house and wish you were there!! so, when are YOU coming to visit?
you have an official flower? wow, to live in the country. very cool.
I swear ice cream was Matilda's first "solid food". That sweet girl.
My advice for when hubby is gone. Two words: diet. coke.
Mmm..fish and chips.
I agree with Amanda. Diet coke saves the day. At least, in my little world. :)
hi honey! we're living apart as you know until our house sells. we webcam! they're pretty cheap, and you can use them with basically any instant messaging program. cooper just like attacking the camera - i think matilda would be a little more into it since she is older. I may have an extra one here and i'd be happy to send it to you guys so you can use it. I guess it would only work if daddy has a laptop or something he takes with him so he could get one too. it's gotten us through the last 8 weeks!
Wow, we have an official flower! I am so excited, I better get hooked up with some. Glad to see the smiles with the daddy time. So cute.
LARA... You gotta come to Rochester and play while Dave is away. I mean, you can always come when he is there, but if you need company, AMY is ready for action!!!
