#5 Strawberries
we're still doing a little blog catch up here, so enjoy!
matilda and i really enjoyed going strawberry picking this year. we drove out by the university of connecticut to this little patch. it was perfect because it wasn't too crowded and we could work quickly! i especially loved that there were signs along the way propped up by hay bales...very country-ish!
i love the way i took these pictures! it was purely on accident, of course, because i am still figuring out my camera that i received for mother's day. i think the shutter was wide open and let tons of light in, which i think captured the feeling of the day perfectly! it was hot, but breezy and the berries were just perfect! you can't beat that!
matilda was the best helper ever! she loves to go berry picking and be the taste tester. she makes me laugh! this was the first year for us doing strawberries and we loved it!
i also love the sweet white flowers that bloom next to the bright red berries...pure heaven!
my BIG girl! doesn't she look so grown up! the pose, the hat, the smile. i can't believe how time flies! plus she was very proud of herself for being and amazing helper!
our haul...which was quickly devoured, turned to jam, or frozen for some yumminess later!
the aftermath. what a look!
and amazingly it all came out in the wash.
who knew one little berry patch could be so fun? i can't wait until next year! but right now i'm thinking of apples, maybe some more peaches, and pumpkins!

hate the strawberry mess. look like that outfit's not going to be passed down to fyrst. :(
That sounds like so much fun picking strawberries. Matilda is SOOOO darling. The picture of her eating the strawberry looks like it is straight out of a J-crew catalog.
posts like this make me miss CT so much i could cry. we need to find some berry/fruit patches around here somewhere, but it wont' be the same, that's for sure.
